These work for my thunder scared dog!, August 11, 2008

I have a 55lb, 11 year old brown mutt of uknown origins who is afraid of thunderstorms. If I give her 3 of these when I know they’re coming, it takes the edge off enough so that she just pants a little but is able to just ride out the storm, so to speak. Without these, she is usually hiding under my feet or in my lap. These are also helpful at nighttime for her – she has allergies that make her itch and lick during the night, so 3 of these before bedtime seem to relax her enough so that she sleeps for most of the night without itching.

We took our dogs on a long road trip and this worked wonderfully. Usually there is growling and snapping, maybe even road sickness, but with this they were calm and/or sleeping through the trip. Generally worked for about six hours until the next dose was needed. Would highly recommend.

works AMAZING!, June 9, 2011
This review is from: Veterinarian’s Best Relaxed Dog Travel Calm Formula Chewable Tablets, 40 Count (Misc.)

I bought this for my 4 year old husky who was all of a sudden petrified of thunderstorms. I give them to him a hour before we are going to have a storm and he acts like he doesn’t even care! It works amazing! He used to pant, cry and pace back and forth before i found this pill. BUY THIS FOR YOUR DOG!

Definite improvement over previous vitamin. Dogs seem to think they are okay. Wish they would make a single pill for large dogs.

My dogs love these things and one of them is VERY finnicky so I’m glad he’ll eat these. Very reasonable price compared to similar products.

This review is from: 8 in 1 Excel Time Release Senior Dog Multi-Vitamins Tabs, 100 Count Bottle (Misc.)

After much research, I purchased these several months ago. We have 2 senior beagle boys, and we’ve been giving these senior multi vitamins to them every morning. The tabs are easily ground up, added to their food, (as they are finicky about anything resembling meds), and by adding some warm water, it makes a great gravy on the food. There has been a big improvement in both of them, but mostly in our 11 year old (the older one). The longer he takes the vitamins, the more “spurts of energy” he seems to have. With the added lutein (not in many other senior vitamins!) in the tabs, they both have also shown improvement in their failing eye sight.

Too much breakage, August 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: 8 in 1 Excel Time Release Senior Dog Multi-Vitamins Tabs, 100 Count Bottle (Misc.)

My dog will eat these vitamins plain which is a plus. However, about half of them were broken, and some crushed so badly they were powder. I separated them out and figured that 10-12 had turned to powder. It’s a pity since these had the ingredients I was looking for at a fair price. But I probably won’t buy them again due to the breakage.

Pet Naturals Calming for Small Dogs (21 count)

Pet Naturals Calming for Small Dogs (21 count)

  • Calming formula is recommended for pets exposed to increased environmental stressors.
  • Supports stress reduction
  • Helps animals relax and quiet down
  • Reduces irritability
  • Reduces anxiety

Calming formula is recommended for pets exposed to increased environmental stressors. When pets can’t adapt to stress it can lead to nervousness, hyperactivity, excess barking, abnormal urine marking, excessive scratching, and destructive or aggressive behavior. Calming helps alleviate stress related behavior problems without affecting your pet’s personality or energy level. It can be used daily or when extra help to relax is needed. It contains a combination of factors not found in other calming formulas such as a Colostrum Calming Complex, L Theanine, and Thiamine (Vitamin B1) which all address stress and calming. Colostrum Calming Complex is isolated from colostrum proteins which have a calming effect on animals. These bioactive proteins have been found to support cognitive functioning and support stress reduction. The Colostrum Calming Complex works synergistically with the L Theanine in this formula to promote relaxation and cognition. L Theanine supports calming and relaxation reduces irritability and low mood states. L Theanine has been extensively researched for its ability to help curb destructive behavior. L Theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in green tea. It helps the body to produce other calming amino acids, such as Dopamine, GABA and Tryptophan, and helps bring certain neurotransmitters into better balance. Studies down on L Theanine showed dogs were calm and relaxed without adverse effects or drowsiness; dogs were alert, playful, and calmer than expected, given their situations. B Vitamins help manage stress and help maintain normal disposition. Thaimine (Vitamin B1) has been shown to affect the central nervous system to help calm and relax animals. Calming does not contain any herbal ingredients (Kava Kava, Valerian, St. John’s Work, etc.) or L tryptophan. Calming’s ingredients do not cause side effects, addiction, and drowsiness or impaired motor skills.

These really work!, May 15, 2011
This review is from: Pet Naturals Calming for Small Dogs (21 count) (Misc.)

Our small 12 year old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix gets dog really excited every time we take the 3 hour trip to our vacation home. She starts stressing while we pack the car like she knows where we are going and she doesn’t want to be left behind. We go about once a month and she pants almost the entire way, driving me crazy. We have given her these to her 3 times and each time about 10 minutes later she is calm and then goes to sleep for most of the trip. It’s great! She is not doped up and likes the taste very much. I highly recommend these.

NO More Peeing, January 10, 2011
By
Chelsea (California) – See all my reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Pet Naturals Calming for Small Dogs (21 count) (Misc.)

Ok, it’s a little weird that my cat treats have colostrum in them, but they are the ONLY thing that has stopped my Russian Blue cats from peeing all over the house.

We’ve tried the candles, the sprays, the diet, the plug-ins, the laundry detergents, the medications, and the begging, but none have stopped my cats from using laundry baskets, blankets, and my couch as their own little litter.

But then we stumbled up on the PetNaturals. Oh, if I could name my next kid “PetNatural” I would. There is no more peeing. WE stopped on accident for a few weeks and the peeing began again, then went back to the PetNatural calming treats and again: no more peeing.

Is it the colostrum? I don’t know, but I know it’s magic for babies and clearly it’s magic for my kitties too.

Oh, dear, I just realized that my most recent batch are dog treats. No matter, my cats seem to like them and there is still no peeing.

Works really well for all but total freak-out, May 8, 2010
By
Laura Gail (Greenfield, Ma United States) – See all my reviews

This review is from: Composure for Medium and Large Dogs, 60 Soft Chews (Misc.)

I have two dogs, one who becomes completely hysterical with thunderstorms, and mildly hysterical with heavy rain. My other dog takes on any stress of the people and animals around him, and it got to the point where that was making him really sick.

These chews have been fabulous in helping with the dog who takes on the stress and anxiety of others–it’s made a stunning difference for him. With the thunderstorm/rain dog, this product works really well for her with anything but absolute terror-induced anxiety in big storms. But to put this in perspective–even sedation doesn’t help her in big storms.

I really like that this product does not sedate or drug the dogs. They both happily take it, and when upset the stress-sponge dog actually will go to the kitchen and look at the bag.

Composure, June 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Composure for Medium and Large Dogs, 60 Soft Chews (Misc.)

I had received a sample of this product (different flavor) but before I used it I had given it to a friend whose dog had been injured, had surgery and was “freaking out”. Later she told me that it had worked really really well, it calmed her dog without spacing her out and causing her to become befuddled and changing her personality.

I purchased this product to help calm our dog while in the car. It has helped a lot. She does ride more comfortably in the car and now will spend some time looking out the window rather than burying her head under the seat. Also I found that, as my friend had remarked, it does not change her personality and cause any apparent side effects. She still walks on a leash, barks, and in general is herself, just without the frantic behavior.

Like most products for my dog, it works for a while then stops, November 19, 2009
By

This review is from: Composure for Medium and Large Dogs, 60 Soft Chews (Misc.)

I have tried several other anxiety reducing products for my high strung, 12 yr old girl, and like those, this one worked pretty well initially, but the longer she took it, the more reduced the effects were. They were readily accepted by her as treats, so dosing is no issue. She had no adverse affects at all from these supplements. Perhaps the secret to these types of supplements is to continually switch them up so that the critters don’t build up a tolerance to them.
