LOVE these chews!, May 6, 2011

This review is from: Get Naked Puppy Health Dental Chew Sticks for Puppies and Dogs, Small/6.2-Ounce, 18 sticks/Pack (Misc.)

It is awesome to find a dental chew that is safe for a teething puppy AND nutritious. I also love that it has cranberries in it to help my little girl’s urinary health; and DHA to help her developing brain. My 4 month old Lhasa Apso puppy, Alexi, goes crazy for these! She polishes a small one off in about 15 minutes. I’ve considered getting the large ones to keep her chewing longer, but I worry that they might be a bit too big. These are a fantastic value and are much cheaper than similar brands. I tried the CET dental chews, and they made her terribly sick (and I won’t consider Greenies at any age due to the ingredients). Alexi eats a corn-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free diet, and these fit the bill perfectly. She eats Canidae Lamb and Rice as her food and gets these and Zuke’s for treats and chews. I’m happy to have a puppy in great health, and I am relieved to find something that she loves to chew on while her mouth hurts from teething. Also, these don’t leave a mess on my carpet, and they sit perfectly on her little tummy. Really, I am addicted to this product. Also, the price is great for 18 of them! I got the antioxidant ones for my Mom to give to her older dogs.

My patterdale terrier loves these chew sticks. They keep him occupied for awhile, depending on how hungry he is. They smell nice (considering they are dog treats of course!) and aren’t overly hard like some chews. Give them a try!

Magic Juice!, January 14, 2006
By
J. Kronz (Annapolis, Maryland United States) – See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

When we brought our puppy home he had pretty severe separation anxiety. He was great with us around but got very very stressed out whenever we left. I was home Thursday for a doctor appointment and sleeping, the girls put him in his crate to go to school and he was very upset. He would not calm down and whined, barked, etc. for a full hour straight before I got up and got him out. Then of course he was so worn out he just about passed out on my chest for an hour. He did it again when I was at the doctor, etc. I was getting worried about him so I did some research and at the Drs. Foster Smith site it mentioned a new product called Comfort Zone,

I picked it up Thursday afternoon and plugged it in Thursday evening. Within 10 minutes he wasn’t hiding insecurely at my feet anymore but prancing and playing across the room. He slept through the night. He didn’t even wake when I left at 5:00 AM for work Friday. When my daughter got home from school Friday he gave only one little yip of hello and then waited patiently for her to get settled and come get him! It should be called Magic Juice!

What a relief…for both of us!!, June 30, 2006

I cannot say enough good about this product. For me, it meant Bailey would stay. I am the third owner of this 8 month old Pomeranian, but I hadn’t known that when I bought him. Once they are in your heart, you want to do the best for them. I had tried many things, but this changed him into a new puppy. He had reminded me of a year old baby while they are cutting teeth…cried constantly, would only eat if I was with him, I couldn’t be out of his sight because he’d just lose his mind, wanted held or touched constantly & didn’t sleep. Since he gets into everything, for his own safety, I shut him in the bathroom while I’m at work. With this plugged in, he has calmed down, eats his food, and isn’t crazy with fear when I release him. He’s still excited to see me, but it’s a normal dog kind of excitement now. I intend to get more of them to spread throughout the house. I’m hoping that after a few months he’ll relax enough that he can be left alone in the house and yard, but at least with this product, we can be a family.

COMFORT ZONE DIFFUSER DAP 48ML

I have never had a puppy that was as difficult as my scottie, Duffy. He would not let me do anythig to him. He had an ear infection. I would try to put a muzzle on him since he was biting me when I tried to clean and medicate him, and he bit me while I was trying to do that. Sometimes he would just get “angry” at me or my two other dogs – without provocation. He spent much time in his crate for “time outs”. He was even extremely difficult with the veterinarian and his staff. This little 12 week old puppy had to be muzzled any time they had to work on him. The vet suggested DAP (Comfort Zone). It was a new product that he had, and even he did not know if it worked. Duffy was scheduled for his first grooming the next day. I purchased the DAP, and plugged it in the wall immediately. The next day, when the groomer called to say she was done, she said he had been very good, especially considering this was his first grooming. We’ve never looked back since that day. The change in his behavior was a miracle. Literally, overnight the anger and nastiness were gone. He’s a terrier, and he still maintains that wonderful terrier personality, but now he is also loving, affectionate and oh so funny. I can’t imagine not having him around. That was four years ago, and he has never gone back to being Mr. Nasty. My groomer uses DAP now too. Also, no one that has ever been to my home has been able to smell the DAP. It is

just for the dog’s sensitive nose.

I usually buy this product directly from the store and not online. When I opened the bottle the vitamins seemed kind of broken up and not as “fresh” as when I buy them directly from the pet store. Now that I’ve used almost all of the vitamins and can see the bottom of the bottle, there’s a lot of powdered vitamin at the bottom. Seems either it was a very rough shipment or these weren’t stored properly before I received them.

I’ve given my dogs these supplements their entire lives, but the one thing that concerns me is that the bottles Amazon have shipped to me are always quite old.

The manufacturing date (they come from India) is usually a year and a half ago. That seems quite old, there’s no expiry date either.

I did buy from PetCo recently(through Amazon) and the one they sent me didn’t even have a manufacturing date on it!

That just doesn’t seem right.

This review is from: Veterinarian’s Best Relaxed Dog Travel Calm Formula Chewable Tablets, 40 Count (Misc.)

I have a 55lb, 11 year old brown mutt of uknown origins who is afraid of thunderstorms. If I give her 3 of these when I know they’re coming, it takes the edge off enough so that she just pants a little but is able to just ride out the storm, so to speak. Without these, she is usually hiding under my feet or in my lap. These are also helpful at nighttime for her – she has allergies that make her itch and lick during the night, so 3 of these before bedtime seem to relax her enough so that she sleeps for most of the night without itching.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

My dog is a Chow mix and very furry. Ticks are impossible to find under her two layered coat until it’s too late. At first, I tried cheaper brands. They work on ticks but do nothing for fleas. Then my vet recommended Frontline. I later tried K9 Advantix since they claim to also kill mosquitos, but I didn’t notice any difference with the little bloodsuckers. And the protection from K9 Advantix didn’t seem to last as long so I switched back to Frontline.

Frontline works great for us. My dog is an outdoor dog and our county reportedly has more deer than people. And with deer come deer ticks. I’ve seen deer in my back yard and my dog’s house is very near the woods for shade. And she likes to take the occasional jaunt through the woods. Still I rarely find a tick on her. And when I do, they’re usually dead (or soon will be).

I wish I’d known Amazon was selling Frontline for a better price sooner. I’ve been purchasing only 3 months worth for about from another site for the last 2 years. Very frustrating since before you know it, you’re out. With 6 months worth I only have to remember 2 times a year instead of 4.

Frontline Plus is the best way to keep fleas and ticks off your dog. It is applied once per month in about 3 minutes. It seems to have little or no side effects on the dog. It has been used for many years on dogs without problems. I checked all products and asked various vets and everyone agrees that Frontline Plus is the best way to keep ticks and fleas off your dog. The Plus even kills the flea eggs.

Once a great product, but is losing its effectiveness, June 9, 2009

I have used Frontline every year since it first came onto the market to control ticks and fleas – I was always very happy with the product and it worked well.

Something, however, HAS CHANGED WITH THIS PRODUCT – last year it was less effective and I chalked it all up to a different house, a different neighborhood, and the addition of yet another rescued dog. This year, however, I realize that it is not me, not how I am using it, and not the new environment – it simply doesn’t work like it used to. My poor 16 year old cat could not get rid of his fleas and I had to switch to Advantix, which worked well for both my cat and my dogs.

I called Frontline’s customer service number, and they were rude and inevitably insisted that it was wrong doing or incorrect usage on my part, which is funny given that I have used this for many years on dozens of animals with -surprise – no problem until this year. I highly recommend going a different route, even if you are a faithful Frontline customer; something is different about the product only just recently that has caused it to be less effective and it will not get rid of your problem.

Great calming liquid, May 9, 2010
By
Brian Bischof (San Diego, CA United States) – See all my reviews

This review is from: Good Dog! (Misc.)

I got a rescue dog and for the first few days he was very difficult. When I left he would bark and howl for hours. My rescue contact suggested that I try Good Boy. After one day of adding it to his water, he became totally different. Slept like a baby while I was gone and when I got home was back to normal. It seemed like I was drugging him b/c it was so effective. But he is very normal and active whenever I was around. Odd. After a few days I decided to stop putting it in his water b/c I was worried that it was too much. But after that, he just stayed calm all the time. I think it helped him make the transition to being in a new house with a new owner. Ever since then, he has been just fine and not hyper active anymore. It really saved the day for me! (and him…) I recommended it to my friends with over-active dogs and I’m waiting to hear what they say after they buy it for their dogs.

Owner of a disturbed Pomeranian, April 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Good Dog! (Misc.)

I originally purchased this item in Sept 2010. I have 3 dogs so I ordered 3 bottles. We use a 3 gallon water dispenser so I had to do a little math to calculate how much was needed for 3 gals of water. Our dogs are small coming in at 7, 10 and 12 pounds respectively, so their water lasts 7-10 days.

I purchased this because our “middle child”, Cupid had started acting weird. He would turn his head to either side and do a combo growl/bark that we are calling a yap. It was like he was talking to himself and then answering himself. it was very odd and made me wonder if dogs could be schizophrenic! We got some anxiet medication from the vet, but I don’t think they did much. We had moved in August so they no longer had the huge yard they were used too, only a small courtyard. We figured the stress of moving and not being able to run around whenever he felt like it were causing him some stress as well as the other kids.

These last couple of months he has been yappy again. Barking at every leak falling down, “yelling” at us, “talking” all the time. It is really starting to wear on our nerves and my husband suggested taking him back to the vet again. Then we were in the car coming home from the dog park and since he’s been handling filling their water dispenser since I hurt my back a few months ago, I asked him if was putting the right amount in their water and his response was that he ran out of that stuff a couple months ago and haven’t been using it.

So, here I am, ordering 3 more bottles, because it was obviously working during the months he was drinking it and the only that has changed in 2011 is that he is no longer drinking it!

It works, October 13, 2011
By
gunther17 (Seattle, WA) – See all my reviews

This review is from: Good Dog! (Misc.)

I recently adopted a rescue dog, a young Alaskan Malamute. After 2-3 weeks of settling in, she was still exhibiting signs of anxiety and stress–excessive panting, not sleeping through the night, etc. I decided to try this supplement and ran it past my vet too, to make sure it was safe, and she said that it was (though she was obviously skeptical that it would actually work, being a homeopathic treatment).

Well, there’s no mistaking that it works. And it works fast! I saw a difference in my dog’s ability to relax within a couple of hours of the first dose. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t *drug* your dog. It doesn’t knock them out or make them have a different personality. It does just what you want it to do–it simply helps them to relax and feel more at ease. There has been a huge improvement in my dog’s ability to relax in general, as well as sleep through the night. It helped my dog just settle down and ease into her new home, and now she’s so much happier and content. I plan on easing her off of this and only using it going forward for special occasions (trips to the vet, things like that), but I will definitely always have some on hand. I love this stuff!

My dog had a really nasty looking rash and I had to wait to take him to the vet because it was a weekend. My mom dropped a bottle of this stuff off and I started putting it on his rash two to three times a day. I noticed a change immediately and within a week the rash was gone. We were really starting to panic when he had this rash, but this stuff worked sooo well! We keep it in our house all the time now just in case he gets a hot spot or rash.

SAVE $ $ $ , Cures Hotspots Quick & Cheap, June 6, 2011
This review is from: Sulfodene First Aid Skin Medication for Dogs, 4oz. (Misc.)

I bought this at a local petstore not really expecting anything but I was desperate. My Golden Retriever had insane hot spots and last time I took him to the vet I was charged close to 0 for the exam, cone, and prescriptions. I can’t afford to do that every time. This summer he began chewing his tail and got a horrible scaling/rash. I pour this on his tail and he immediately didn’t touch it again. It has a bitter taste to it but the substance is like a less sticky honey. He jumped a little bit when I first poured it on but made no other movement when I reapplied it later that day. The directions say to shave off the hair before applying but I didn’t b/c it would mean my poor dog would have a dozen bald spots. This stuff worked anyways. I am a true believer that sometimes cheap stuff does work. I noticed Amazon’s price is half of what major petstores charge and the small bottle should last you a month even when using it on a large breed known for notorious skin problems.

There are times when the old remedies work better then some of the new ones. I tried Oatmeal shampoo and all the other “all natural, happy horse pucky” products. I remember using tar oil when we were kids, yes I’m old. This still stinks as bad, not a lasting smell, just a bit like gasoline at first, as it always did. The important part is it worked. It works well, and immediately. I didn’t even have to give my dog Yoga lessons with Tea Tree oil supplements, just plain old fashioned Sulfodene. Good to know these effective old remedies are still out there.

So far, So good!, April 9, 2009
This review is from: Pet-Tabs Supplement for Dogs, 365 Tablets (Misc.)

These seem to be great vitamins for my dogs. They have only taken them for over a few weeks now but I think their coats look shinier, feel softer and I swear they have more energy. If that’s even possible! And they LOVE the taste of them. Which is good, because the other vitamins I tried, they just spit them out.

The purchase Pet-Tabs plus for dogs was very user friendly & was the best value of all the sites that I searched. The shipping was very good & none of the tablets were broken. Our pets love them & this is very important as you do not have to force them to take these vitamins. I will definitely order again.

I’ve been administering Petabs to my pet dog for some time now and I’ve been purchasing through other sources and decided to check Amazon’s prices which seems to be the best possible prices I could find for someone living in Honolulu, Hawaii. Our vet recommended Petabs for our dog and I’d like to recommend Amazon for anyone trying to do price comparisons online and in the stores !

I was concerned that my dog wouldn’t like the taste, as I have had picky dogs in the past. However, my Airedale loves taking them every day.

This is what you were looking for, and your dog was needing, February 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Canine Plus – 270 Ct – Beef Flavored (Misc.)

[I initially purchased this from another Amazon Marketplace vendor, but have just ordered a backup supply from this vendor as well. The other source is Canine Plus Vitamin/Minerals, 270 Tablets they are also available in a 1000 tablet version Canine Plus – 1000 Ct – Beef Flavored for those who have larger dogs or larger packs!]

Do dogs need vitamins? I think they do, and here’s why. In our society they are spending much more time indoors than out. Their diet, even with quality dog foods, lacks some of the things that they would take in if free to wander the outdoors. (One of our dogs favorite foods is Brazil Nuts, and they remove the shells themselves!) And like their owners, they may very well be suffering from Hypovitaminosis D, because they get so little sunlight (it is a very widely under-diagnosed and serious problem among humans!). It isn’t a good idea to try and address canine vitamin deficiencies with human supplements, however, because a dosage which may be “just right” for you, could literally kill your dog! The best answer is a consistent, life long regimen of a good quality balanced CANINE multi-vitamin. Not piecemeal guesswork and improvisation.

I did a lot of looking to find a reliable canine supplement with detailed dosing information, not just a list of ingredients and a “trust us” attitude. So many pet oriented products leave out vital information, and contain a lot of “snake oil” ingredients, any one of which may be helpful, useless, or harmful to your pet. I wanted quality control, closely regulated consistent ingredients, and known dosages. This product provides this.

When the package arrived, it was one of several boxes on our front porch. I returned home from an outing with one of our dogs, and when we got on the porch he went wild to get at one particular box in the pile, sniffing at it like it was a freshly prepared steak. As it happened, it was the box with these vitamins in it. Needless to say, I have no trouble getting these chewable vitamins in my dogs. In fact, I think they should be kept well out of reach of your pets, as “pigging out” on what they consider to be dog treats could have grave consequences.

In our household, this tub is a 90 day supply. It will vary with the number and sizes of your dogs. But given the cost of vetrinary care these days, the cost of maintaining your dogs on these supplements is a modest investment in prevention. I highly recommend this product to all responsible dog owners. Over time, you may see a real improvement in your dogs, especially an older animal who may be suffering the effects of deficiencies. Just keep in mind that it may take weeks or months for the levels of some vitamins and minerals to reach normal levels, so while a quick turnaround is possible, slow and steady improvements are more the norm.

Puppy Grams “JAN” (LEVITTOWN, PA., USA) – See all my reviews

This review is from: Canine Plus – 270 Ct – Beef Flavored (Misc.)

We have two dogs, a Dalmation, and a minature schnauzer, and we have been buying CANINE PLUS VITAMINS for them. They both just love the liver flavored ones, and act like they are getting a super treat each day! (This is the first time we have found a Vitamin that is good for them that they will actually eat!) We are on our third bucket of them!

Great Dog Vitamin!, July 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Canine Plus – 270 Ct – Beef Flavored (Misc.)

i bought these for my dog after much research and comparison…..this brand seemed to have the most vitamins & minerals (and more!) in them…….the 270 ct. bucket is good sized and the vitamins come whole in the tub (instead of being broken into crumbles at the bottom)……we have a 60 pound pit bull and give her 2 per day along with her dog food (flint river ranch), salmon oil (alaskan bear treats) and glucosamine tabs (joint max triple strength) and she gobbles the supplements down first (always!)…….no problem with the taste at all….she’s been on the above regiment for 5 years now and have to say she’s got a VERY shiny coat and acts like 2 year old puppy still……in fact she’s sooo shiny when we take her to the vet for her annual checkups they always comment on HOW shiny her coat is….i have no doubt that these vitamins, her salmon oil and glucosamine/chrond. tabs are the reason for it……invest in these for your dog–they will love you for it!
