I had a great Berner as a companion for 10.5 years before she died. This book is a wonderful tribute to the breed with a detailed history of the breed in this country. It will need to be updated to remain current with activities in the breed, especially genetic testing that is ongoing, but is does a great service to pet owner and breeder with its great descriptions of the standard and discussions of other pertinent matters for breeders, owners, and admirers.

This book has lovely photos and very detailed information about the Bernese Mtn Dog breed. pNewbie Pet Owners will be impressed by the information and photos, but may find about 1/2 of the book to be relatively useless for them.pHowever, this book should be incredibly useful to serious Berner people wanting a comprehensive study on Berners in the USA, along with top quality breeding information and study.pThe sections on USA Berners, breeding and showing information is incredibly nice to have to study and as a ready reference.pThis is a wonderful, lovely and very well written book that every Hardcore Berner person should have!
