About the Irish Terrier
Originally named the "Irish Sporting Terrier" these
"daredevils" of the dog world make wonderful family pets. In their
native homeland of Ireland, these small, yet mighty, dogs were once used
as ratters and guard dogs, as well as to flush and retrieve game. These
active and alert terriers love children and will amuse your kids for
hours on end with their lively antics. The hard, wiry top coat requires
weekly grooming and hand-stripping to maintain it's correct texture, but
is less difficult to care for than other terrier breeds. Irish Terriers
like to be walked at least twice day daily, are easy to train and make
good watchdogs. This breed is well suited to both country or city
living.
