About the Belgian Malinois

Whether you're looking for a great watch dog, a loyal, trustworthy, affectionate and very companionable family pet, or a dog that you can compete in a variety of canine sports including obedience, agility, herding and sledding, the Belgian Malinois could be just the breed for you! Highly intelligent and striking in appearance, it is thought that this breed may be a close cousin to the German Shepherd. It's outline is very similar to the Belgian Teruven and Belgian Sheepdog, but it's short fawn to mahogany coat requires much less grooming ( a weekly brushing does the trick!)  These dogs require plenty of exercise and are best suited to country living or homes with a large, fenced yard. Obedience training is a must and should be started early.
